CNH Industrial and The Ohio State University Launch Research Collaboration

COLUMBUS, OH—August 15, 2023— CNH Industrial and The Ohio State University have launched a research collaboration to advance key agriculture technologies, engaging university researchers and faculty in Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

“We are solidifying and celebrating our partnership with The Ohio State University,” said Jillian Carbone, North America Open Innovation Lead for CNH Industrial.  “This research collaboration will allow us to move from conception to co-development simpler and faster, while pioneering products, technologies, and services for our customers to help their businesses to be more efficient and profitable.”

This new research collaboration will center around observing, measuring, and responding to inter- and intra-field variability in crop production, a practice widely known as precision agriculture. Additionally, the partnership will help develop the future of farming in the areas of sensing, automation, autonomy, digitalization, and connected platforms.

“This partnership creates opportunities for collaborations across institutions and industries, including sustainable innovation in the off-road equipment manufacturing sector.” said Scott Shearer, Chair of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. “We are excited to partner with CNH Industrial to realize this impact on the agricultural community, not just here in Ohio, but globally.”

Ohio State’s Corporate Partnerships Team facilitates mutually beneficial relationships to help advance objectives of both the university and industry. This collaboration compliments Ohio State’s recent creation of an AgTech Innovation Hub; a partnership with Nationwide Insurance focused on promoting applied research, technology transfer, and transdisciplinary innovation in support of agricultural technology.  Through our common dedication to innovation, sustainability, and productivity, together, we will continue to advance the noble work of global agriculture and construction workers.

“Ohio State’s research community addresses and helps solve the most pressing industry challenges through the creation and dissemination of new knowledge,” said Alissa Comella, Associate Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Ohio State. “By partnering with CNH Industrial, a leader in agricultural innovation, farmers and builders will benefit from the best Ohio State researchers, faculty and technology committed to serial innovation.”
